It is a proven fact that mentorship of novice teachers leads to better teaching practices and confident, resilient educators.
Our mentorship for newly qualified teachers provides personalised guidance, expert support and encouragement to help them develop effective teaching strategies and classroom management early in their careers.
PSP’s Mentorship Project originated in 2010 and has evolved through seven very successful two-year project cycles, benefitting more than 180 novice teachers to date.
We are proud to share that numerous ex-mentees have moved into leadership positions such as grade heads, phase heads, departmental heads, as well as deputy principal and principal posts at schools within a relatively short period of time. Others have pursued further studies to obtain Masters and PHD degrees or been appointed as lecturers at tertiary institutions. Empowering novice teachers from the get-go helps them to thrive in their careers and to grow the teaching profession.
PSP helped me tremendously over the past 2 years. This programme has helped me to create the necessary space within my classroom that works for both me and my learners. I have learned excellent classroom management techniques as well as intervention strategies. Additionally, amidst all the challenges that I’ve experienced, I have learned that I’m not alone in the process and I’ve got this wonderful programme that I can count on to help me become the best teacher for the benefit of both the profession and the learners.
