Classroom Coaching

We believe that classroom coaching and support which follows on from targeted training is transformational for teachers. Based on relationships built on trust, mutual respect, and acknowledgement of prior knowledge, PSP facilitators use a combination of observation, demonstration teaching, co-teaching and reflection to help teachers improve their confidence and practical teaching skills.

Regular classroom coaching over a two-year period is a key element in specific PSP projects to support better outcomes for Foundation Phase Maths, Foundation Phase Life Skills (Beginning Knowledge Science), Foundation Phase Language, Grade 4-7 Natural Sciences and Technology and mentorship for novice teachers. This serves to further embed teachers’ new knowledge and skills into daily classroom practice.

As teachers’ proficiency improves, we observe them developing greater professional confidence, even more so when they see improvements in children’s learning.

Our teachers are now equipped with learner/teacher support materials and different pedagogies. Your training and follow-up class visits worked well with our teachers. As the school management team of this school, we notice improvement in teacher subject knowledge and quality of teaching and learning. Learner achievement is on the rise.
